Fresh graduates in Bangladesh cannot find jobs — but everyone acts like it is our fault
I graduated with a CSE degree from a public university last year. CGPA 3.6. Several projects. Two internships. I have applied to 200+ positions in the past 12 months. I have had 11 interviews. Zero offers. Every rejection says some version of we need someone with more experience. I want to ask them: how am I supposed to get experience if no one will give me the first chance? The job market here is broken in a very specific way. Big companies want 2-3 years experience for entry-level roles. Startups want to pay 8,000 taka for a full-stack developer with 3 skills. Government jobs require you to spend 2 years preparing for a single exam. And the wasta system means half the positions are filled before they are even posted. Meanwhile, relatives ask at every gathering why I am not working yet. My parents are under social pressure. I feel like a burden every single day. I am not lazy. I am not incompetent. I am a qualified person in a system that has no room for me. What do fresh graduates actually do in this situation? Genuinely asking.
